Arsenal booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final with a narrow but decisive 1-0 victory over Atlético Madrid at the Emirates Stadium, sealing a 2-1 aggregate win in a tense semi-final tie.

The breakthrough came just before half-time when Bukayo Saka struck from close range, capitalising on a rebound after an initial effort from Leandro Trossard was parried by goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

It proved to be the defining moment in a match characterised by tactical discipline and defensive resilience from Arsenal, who effectively neutralised the attacking threats of Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez.

Managed by Mikel Arteta, Arsenal showed composure under pressure, recording yet another clean sheet in what has been an impressive European campaign.

The Gunners have now conceded very few goals throughout the tournament, underlining their defensive solidity.

For Atletico Madrid, led by Diego Simeone, the defeat marked the end of a spirited run.

Despite creating moments of danger, the Spanish side struggled to break down Arsenal’s organised backline and failed to convert their limited chances.

The result sends Arsenal into their first Champions League final in 20 years, a milestone moment for the club and its supporters.

Their only previous final appearance came in 2006, and they now stand on the brink of history as they chase a first-ever European crown.

The two-legged tie had been finely poised after a 1-1 draw in Madrid, setting up a high-stakes encounter in London. But backed by a vibrant home crowd, Arsenal held their nerve to get over the line.

They will now face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in the final, scheduled for May 30 in Budapest.
