Arsenal F.C. kept their Premier League title dream alive with a dramatic 1-0 victory over West Ham United F.C. on Sunday evening at the London Stadium.
Belgian forward Leandro Trossard emerged the hero for Mikel Arteta’s side after scoring a late winner in the 83rd minute following a brilliant assist from captain Martin Ødegaard.
The tense London derby looked destined for a draw as West Ham frustrated Arsenal for much of the match.
However, Trossard’s composed finish sent the travelling fans into wild celebrations and pushed Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with only two matches remaining.
The match ended in controversy deep into stoppage time after West Ham thought they had snatched an equaliser through Callum Wilson.
The goal was eventually ruled out following a VAR review, which judged that Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya had been fouled in the build-up.
The win comes just days after Arsenal booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final following a 2-1 aggregate victory over Atlético Madrid.
Manager Mikel Arteta praised his players for showing resilience under pressure as the Gunners continue chasing their first Premier League crown since 2004.
Arsenal will now turn their attention to crucial fixtures against Burnley and Crystal Palace as they edge closer to ending their long wait for league glory.
