Suspended FKF president Hussein Mohammed has broken his silence with a defiant response, vowing to challenge his removal and clear his name amid a deepening leadership crisis at Football Kenya Federation.
In a strongly worded statement issued on his social media platforms, Mohammed dismissed the allegations surrounding the alleged mismanagement of CHAN funds as fabricated and politically motivated, framing the suspension as part of a broader scheme to derail reforms within the federation.
Mohammed described the accusations against him as a “malicious campaign” orchestrated by corrupt elements threatened by his leadership agenda.
According to him, his tenure at FKF has been defined by efforts to clean up the federation, a move he claims has rattled entrenched interests.
He warned that his reputation and lifetime contribution to sports were under attack, adding that he would not allow what he termed as propaganda to go unchallenged.
“I shall not allow it. In this regard, I shall be issuing a comprehensive response to these heinous fabricated allegations and all other planned propaganda. We know all their plans,” he stated.
In a separate statement shared on X, Mohammed took direct aim at the process that led to his suspension, terming it irregular, unlawful, and unconstitutional.
He argued that the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that allegedly resolved to suspend him was not convened in accordance with the FKF Constitution (2017).
According to Mohammed, the statutes clearly outline how such meetings should be called, insisting that he did not convene any NEC meeting, he did not receive any formal request to convene one and that the alleged meeting therefore lacked legal standing
“Consequently, any decisions arising from it are null and void,” he asserted.
Beyond procedural concerns, Mohammed hinted at internal wrangles within FKF, suggesting that the timing of the allegations is not coincidental.
He linked the unfolding scandal to resistance against reforms aimed at restoring integrity and accountability within the federation. In his view, individuals benefiting from the previous system are now pushing back through what he described as coordinated attacks.
Mohammed also moved to quell speculation about instability within the federation’s top ranks, particularly regarding Vice President McDonald Mariga.
He dismissed claims of leadership shake-ups, maintaining that FKF operations remain guided by its constitution and ongoing commitments, including preparations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Mohammed announced that he will address the media comprehensively on the matter tomorrow on 25th April 2026 from 9:00 AM
The press briefing, scheduled to take place at FKF headquarters, is expected to provide further insight into his defense strategy and possibly reveal new details about the allegations and internal dynamics within the federation.
