OL KALOU, Nyandarua- Activist and journalist Allan Ademba has said he has been arrested in Ol Kalou during the ongoing parliamentary by-election.

In a brief message posted on his social media accounts on Thursday, Ademba wrote:

“I’ve been arrested. Niko Ol Kalau DCI.”

The circumstances surrounding the reported arrest were not immediately clear, and authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident by the time of publication.

Ademba, who leads the Niko Kadi civic initiative, has been actively involved in governance and civic engagement campaigns in recent months and has remained a prominent voice on political and accountability issues.

His reported arrest comes as Ol Kalou residents continue voting in a closely watched parliamentary by-election that has drawn thousands of voters to polling stations since early morning.

The contest has attracted heightened security deployment amid intense political competition between the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

Earlier in the day, Ademba had been actively documenting the voting process on his social media platforms, sharing photos and videos showing long queues of voters at various polling stations across Ol Kalou.

In his posts, he highlighted what he described as an impressive voter turnout as residents streamed to polling centres from the early hours of the morning.

Y News has reached out to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service for comment on Ademba’s arrest and will update this story once an official response is received.
