Five-Storey Building Collapses in Kisii, Rescue Operation Underway

KISII, Kenya-A five-storey building under construction has collapsed in Ugembo, Kisii County, leaving an unknown number of people feared trapped under the rubble.

The Kenya Red Cross said a multi-agency search and rescue operation was underway at the scene.

Emergency teams involved include the Kenya Red Cross, county disaster response personnel, the National Police Service and Fire and Rescue Services.

County ambulances and Emergency Medical Services Kenya teams are also at the scene providing emergency medical assistance.

Authorities have not confirmed the number of people trapped, injured or killed following the collapse.

The Kenya Red Cross said further updates would be issued as the rescue operation continued.
