JKUAT Blocks Sifuna From Student Governance Forum

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Presidential aspirant Edwin Sifuna says he has been denied access to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology’s Karen Campus after the administration abruptly cancelled a student forum he was scheduled to attend.

Sifuna said he had visited the institution on Thursday morning at the invitation of the student leadership.

The event, billed as the inaugural Law, Policy and Governance Forum, was expected to bring students and invited guests together for discussions on legal, policy and governance issues.

“We came to JKUAT Karen on the invitation of the student leadership for their Inaugural Law, Policy and Governance Forum, but the administration has abruptly ‘cancelled’ the event and denied us access to the institution,” Sifuna said.

He described the decision as “totally uncalled for” but did not disclose whether the university had provided reasons for cancelling the meeting.

It was also not immediately clear when the administration communicated the cancellation to the student organisers or whether the forum would be rescheduled.

Sifuna is a leading figure in the Linda Mwananchi movement and has declared his intention to contest the presidency in the 2027 General Election.
