NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has warned passengers that some departing flights are currently experiencing delays at airports across the country.
In a passenger advisory issued on Sunday, August 30, KAA said it was working with aviation agencies, airlines and other stakeholders to manage the disruption and minimise its impact on airport operations.
The authority did not specify the number of flights affected or give a reason for the delays in its advisory.
“Some departing flights are currently experiencing delays at our airports,” KAA said, urging passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest information on their flight status.
The advisory comes amid reports of significant disruption at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), where several flights scheduled to depart from as early as 8am remained on the ground hours later.
Reports indicate that a go-slow involving staff from KAA and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has affected operations.
The delays have left passengers waiting for updates from airlines, with some travellers reporting lengthy waits at the airport.
KAA has advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and confirm their flight status directly with their airlines before travelling.
The authority apologised for the inconvenience and said it appreciated the patience and understanding of passengers and other airport users as efforts to address the situation continue.
The latest advisory covers Kenyan airports generally, although JKIA appears to be among the facilities affected by the ongoing disruption.
