Kameme Presenter Muthoni Raises Alarm Over Exposed Location Data

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba, popularly known as Baby Top, has claimed her phone number and location were exposed online, prompting widespread concern among her supporters and sparking fresh debate about privacy and security for outspoken public figures.

The presenter, who has recently emerged as a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration and a supporter of DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, said she woke up to thousands of calls and messages from concerned Kenyans seeking to know whether she was safe.

“Just woke up and found that I have thousands of phone calls and messages. I am fine, thank you,” she wrote in a social media post.

Muthoni accused former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria of publishing her mobile number and location on his WhatsApp status and social media platforms, claims that have not been independently verified.

She also questioned whether the Directorate of Criminal Investigations had any role in tracking her movements, asking why her personal information would be shared if she was not under investigation.

“Am I a terrorist, criminal, suspect? And if yes, is he the DCI officer who is supposed to arrest me or he is your hitman?” she posed in the statement.

The media personality further argued that security agencies do not ordinarily publish the phone numbers, identification details or locations of suspects and questioned why her information had allegedly been made public.

Screenshots circulating online appeared to show WhatsApp status updates allegedly linked to Kuria alongside information that Muthoni claims revealed her whereabouts. She also shared call logs showing numerous incoming calls from unknown numbers.

By Sunday afternoon, neither Kuria nor the DCI had publicly responded to the allegations.

Muthoni is among a growing number of media personalities who have openly criticized what they describe as state excesses and governance failures.

Her outspoken political commentary, particularly on vernacular radio, has earned her a significant following while also drawing criticism from government supporters.
