Security Breach As Man Charges Towards President Ruto in Kilifi County

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- A security scare unfolded in Kilifi County on Sunday after a man breached security and charged towards President William Ruto while he was addressing a public gathering in Ganze.

The dramatic incident, captured on video and widely shared online, showed the man making his way towards the President before members of the presidential security team swiftly intercepted him moments before he reached the podium.

Witnesses said the incident briefly caused panic among security officers and members of the public attending the event during Ruto’s ongoing Coast tour.

According to reports, the man was carrying a Bible when he approached the President. Security personnel quickly subdued and removed him from the scene as the Head of State momentarily paused his address.

The latest scare has once again raised concerns over presidential security arrangements during public rallies and open-air engagements.

In recent months, President Ruto has experienced several security breaches during public events.

Earlier this year, a man stormed the podium during a NYOTA programme event in Mombasa before being restrained by security officers.

Another incident in Wajir County saw a man rush toward the President while he was speaking, prompting renewed debate about the safety of campaign-style public engagements.

Authorities had not immediately disclosed the identity or motive of the man involved in the Kilifi incident by the time of publication.

The President, however, proceeded with his engagements after calm was restored.
