Six Oil Tankers Among 51 Ships Scheduled to Dock at Mombasa and Lamu

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Six oil tankers carrying fuel and other oil-related products are among 51 vessels scheduled to call at the ports of Mombasa and Lamu over a two-week period, according to the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

The schedule, dated October 19, 2026, projects 41 vessel calls at Mombasa and 10 at Lamu, reflecting the different cargo-handling roles of the two coastal ports.

Mombasa is expected to receive 26 container ships, six oil tankers, seven conventional cargo vessels and two car carriers. Lamu is scheduled to handle nine container ships and one general cargo vessel.

The programme places Mombasa at the centre of the period’s scheduled fuel-related shipments, while container vessels account for most of the expected calls at both ports.

Fuel and Oil Products Feature in Mombasa Schedule

The listed arrivals include vessels carrying butane, gasoil, base oil and palm oil, alongside shipments of clinker, wheat, steel coils and general cargo.

The Atlantic Victory, scheduled for October 19, is listed to carry butane. The Jupiter, expected on October 20, is carrying palm oil, while the Bow Lynx is scheduled for October 21 with base oil.

Another vessel, the Torm Sublime, is listed to arrive on October 21 carrying gasoil. The Melati 3, expected on October 29, is also listed to carry palm oil.

The schedule additionally lists the Bellatrix for October 20 with a cargo description recorded as “V Power”. The authority’s published listing does not clarify that description.

These are planned arrivals, and the schedule does not by itself confirm that the vessels have docked or completed cargo discharge.

Lamu Set for Container Ship Arrivals

Lamu is expected to receive 10 vessels during the period, with container ships making up nine of the calls and one vessel carrying general cargo.

Among the vessels listed for Lamu are Behran Box, Zanzibar Express, MSC Sky II and MSC Barbara, all scheduled for October 19. The MV Great Prosperity, carrying general cargo, is also listed for arrival that day.

Further container ship calls are scheduled later in the period, including MSC Brisbane III, MSC Lilou III and CMA CGM Palmyre on October 22.

The schedule indicates continued use of Lamu for container traffic, although the number of expected calls alone does not establish the volume or value of cargo that will be handled.

Other Cargoes Expected at Mombasa

Beyond fuel and containerised freight, Mombasa’s schedule includes vessels carrying clinker, bulk wheat, steel coils and vehicles.

The Newport is listed to arrive on October 22 carrying clinker, while the Yangtze Dawn is scheduled for the same date with bulk clinker. The Scarabe, expected on October 25, is carrying bulk wheat, and the Green Future is listed for October 26 with steel coils.

Car carriers Turandot and Pluto Leader are scheduled to arrive on October 29 and October 31, respectively.

The range of cargoes underscores the ports’ role in handling varied imports, from industrial materials and food commodities to vehicles and petroleum-related products.

The 51-vessel projection remains a forward schedule rather than a record of completed port calls. Actual arrivals and cargo operations may differ from the dates published by KPA.
