NAIROBI, Kenya- The Teachers Service Commission has appointed CS Sharon J. Kisire, MBS as its new Vice Chairperson, effective May 21, 2026, marking a major leadership transition at the commission.

In a statement issued on Friday, TSC said Kisire takes over from Ms. Leila Ali Abdi, MBS, whose tenure as Vice Chairperson has officially ended.

“The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the appointment of CS Sharon J. Kisire, MBS as the new TSC Vice Chairperson, effective from 21st May 2026,” the commission stated.

TSC further congratulated Kisire and welcomed her into the new leadership role at a time when the commission continues overseeing major reforms within Kenya’s education sector.

Kisire is a seasoned human resource and organisational leadership expert with years of experience in both public and private sector management.

According to her professional profile, she currently serves as the founder of Power House HR Consulting and has also served as a commissioner at TSC before ascending to the vice chairperson position.

Her career spans several top institutions, including Safaricom, where she previously worked as Director of Resources, and the Kenya Wildlife Service, where she served as HR Director between 2006 and 2012.

Kisire also held senior management roles at Kenya Pipeline Company, overseeing human resources, administration and security functions.

She is additionally associated with the Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB), where she serves as chairperson.

Academically, Kisire studied at Kenyatta University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology before later pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Criminology.

She also attended Loreto High School Limuru.

Kisire was among the commissioners sworn into the TSC in 2021 to serve a six-year term following a competitive recruitment process.

As Vice Chairperson, she will play a key role in providing strategic leadership and oversight at TSC, which is responsible for teacher management, recruitment, promotions, discipline and policy implementation across Kenya’s education sector.

Her appointment comes at a critical time for the commission as it continues handling issues surrounding teacher recruitment, Junior Secondary School staffing, promotions and reforms linked to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
