NAIROBI, Kenya— Joyce Omondi has officially announced her departure from Citizen TV’s popular Sunday gospel show Rauka, bringing an emotional close to her latest stint on the program.

The media personality revealed that Sunday, April 19 would mark her final appearance, inviting viewers to join her for one last sign-off after what she described as an “honour” to serve.

End of an Era on Rauka

Omondi’s exit caps a successful four-year run following her return to the show in 2022 after the departure of Kambua.

This was her second stint on Rauka, having first hosted the show between 2012 and 2013 before leaving to pursue studies in the United States.

“Tomorrow morning, I host my last show on Rauka. What an honor it has been,” she shared, signaling the end of a journey that has made her one of the most recognisable faces in Kenya’s gospel media space.

From Gospel Star to Media Mainstay

Beyond television, Omondi has built a strong reputation as a gospel artist, known for songs such as Conqueror, Kweli, and Naamini, which have resonated widely with audiences.

Her media journey has also seen her host Full Circle with Joyce on Switch TV, further cementing her presence as a versatile broadcaster.

Her influence spans both ministry and media, blending faith-based messaging with mainstream appeal.

What’s Next for Joyce Omondi?

While she has not disclosed her next move, Omondi hinted at a major transition, describing her exit as the beginning of “a new season and a new chapter.”

Her departure triggered an emotional response from fans, many expressing gratitude and nostalgia for her time on the show.

The moment was made even more special when her husband, Waihiga Mwaura, alongside family members, surprised her live on set with flowers and heartfelt tributes.

Why Her Exit Matters

Omondi’s departure leaves a notable gap in Kenya’s gospel television space, where Rauka remains a staple for Sunday audiences.

It also reflects a broader trend of media personalities pivoting into new ventures, signaling shifts in Kenya’s evolving media and entertainment landscape.

For now, fans will be watching closely to see what her next chapter holds.
