Kiambu Senator Mocks Moses Kuria Over Post-Criticizing Government He Advises: “Lia Kabisa Ikutoke”

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- In the ever-dynamic world of Kenyan politics, it appears no one is spared from the sharp tongues of critics.

This time, it’s Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa who has taken a swipe at former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, delivering a stinging rebuke after his scathing critique of the government.

“Cry it all out,” the Senator mockingly advised Kuria, turning what could have been a mundane political exchange into a spectacle on social media.

The jab came hot on the heels of a major Cabinet reshuffle.

A fierce defender of the President William Ruto led administration, Kuria now finds himself on the receiving end, expressing frustration over the government’s direction.

His recent tirades have raised eyebrows, with many questioning whether his fallout stems from policy differences or personal grievances.

Kuria who once served as Trade CS was replaced by Rebecca Miano, the current Tourism Cabinet Secretary.

Miano was later replaced by Salim Mvurya, who briefly held the Trade docket, and now has been reassigned to the Sports Ministry.

The current changes seem to have been a bitter pill to swallow for Kuria.

Known for his fiery rhetoric and unfiltered remarks, the former Trade CS hasn’t held back in his criticism.

“Industrial Parks Dead. Special Economic Zones Dead. Export Processing Zones Dead. Manufacturing down to 6% of GDP. Foreign Direct Investments lowest in 20 years. Exports as % of GDP 10% down from 28%. After trying the big shoes by Rebecca Miano and Salim Mvurya, I hope @GovLeeKinyanjui will make a difference,” Kuria’s post on X reads.

The Senator’s jab is just the latest sign of growing cracks within Kenya’s political elite.

Once allies, Kuria and his critics now seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Observers say Kuria’s grievances could signal deeper dissatisfaction among some government insiders who feel sidelined or unappreciated.

“This isn’t just about Kuria,” one political analyst noted. “It’s about power dynamics and the constant jostling for relevance in an ever-shifting landscape.”

Thangwa is allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and is among leaders rooting for the removal of President Ruto in 2027 General elections.
