NAIROBI, Kenya – Detectives have arrested a second suspect linked to the violent robbery in Parklands, Nairobi, days after the first suspect was apprehended following the circulation of footage showing a member of the public being attacked and robbed.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the latest suspect as Emmanuel Akolo, alias Murife, who was arrested during an intelligence-led operation in Deep Sea slums within the Parklands-Highridge area.
According to the DCI, investigators linked Akolo to the robbery captured in the widely circulated video, which showed several individuals assaulting a victim and stealing his valuables.
His arrest follows that of Obed Makori, the first suspect publicly identified by detectives in connection with the incident. Makori was arrested by officers from Gigiri along the Northern Bypass on October 21, 2026, after investigators pursued intelligence linking him to the attack.
The DCI previously reported that a firearm was allegedly dropped during the robbery and subsequently recovered by police for use as an exhibit in the investigation.
Police Hunt for Remaining Suspect
With Akolo’s arrest, detectives are continuing efforts to track down other individuals suspected of participating in the robbery.
The DCI said the latest suspect remained in custody as officers completed processing ahead of his expected arraignment in court.
The agency has not publicly disclosed further details about the evidence linking Akolo to the incident or the specific role investigators believe he played.
The arrests follow public concern over the robbery after footage of the attack spread on social media, drawing attention to violent crime in the capital.
Both suspects remain subject to the criminal justice process, and the allegations against them have yet to be determined by a court.
The DCI has reiterated its commitment to pursuing suspects linked to violent robberies and dismantling criminal networks as investigations continue.
