MIAMI, United States — Social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday after British authorities requested their extradition to face new criminal charges, including rape, human trafficking and assault.
The United States Marshals Service confirmed the arrests of 39-year-old Andrew Tate and his younger brother but declined to disclose the specific grounds, saying the arrest warrant remains under seal.
Video published by US entertainment outlet TMZ showed law enforcement officers handcuffing the brothers and escorting them into waiting vehicles. Tristan Tate did not respond when asked by an onlooker if he wished to comment.
The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) later confirmed that the arrests were linked to an extradition request filed by British prosecutors.
In a statement, Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said prosecutors had authorised additional charges against both men following the receipt of new evidence from Bedfordshire Police.
“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” McHaffie said.
“The CPS has requested the extradition of the Tates from the US.”
According to British authorities, Andrew Tate faces 42 criminal charges while Tristan Tate faces 17, bringing the total to 59 counts. Prosecutors said the latest case involves seven alleged victims.

Multiple investigations across jurisdictions
The latest developments add to a growing list of legal challenges facing the brothers in several countries.
Earlier this year, Hertfordshire Police reopened an investigation into rape and sexual assault allegations made against Andrew Tate dating back to 2014 and 2015.
Separate investigations by Bedfordshire Police also involve allegations of rape, human trafficking, tax evasion and money laundering.
In Romania, where the Tate brothers have lived in recent years, prosecutors have separately accused them of trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering. Those proceedings remain ongoing, and both brothers have consistently denied wrongdoing.
The State of Florida also opened a criminal investigation into the brothers in March 2025, although authorities have not publicly disclosed the status of that inquiry.

Lawyer maintains brothers are innocent
The brothers’ attorney, Joseph McBride, rejected the allegations, describing the prosecution as an abuse of legal process.
“They are innocent,” McBride said in a statement.
“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free.”
Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer turned online influencer, has built a global following by promoting what he describes as traditional masculinity and self-improvement. Critics, however, have accused him of spreading misogynistic and harmful content through the so-called “manosphere,” a network of online communities centred on anti-feminist and male-dominance ideologies.
He commands more than 10 million followers on the social media platform X and has remained a polarising figure internationally. The Tate brothers, who hold dual British and American citizenship, have also publicly expressed support for US President Donald Trump.
