NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenyan singer Avril says avoiding stressful men is central to her staying youthful as she celebrates turning 40.
Speaking as she marked her birthday on April 30, 2026, Avril said she deliberately chooses peace of mind over relationships that bring emotional strain.
She maintains that stress, especially from toxic or demanding relationships can age women faster than time itself.
“I have plenty of energy; the secret is avoiding men who stress you out,” she said
She said she avoids environments and people that disrupt her emotional balance.
For her, relationships should feel supportive and stable, not draining or unpredictable. She insists that protecting her mental space has become a priority, especially as she grows older and more self-aware.

Avril says this approach has played a major role in how she looks and feels. She links her youthful appearance not just to physical care, but to emotional stability. According to her, inner peace reflects outwardly, influencing energy levels, confidence, and overall presence.
She also no longer entertains unnecessary pressure or drama. Instead, she focuses on maintaining calm and making choices that align with her wellbeing. This includes stepping away from situations that create tension and choosing connections that feel balanced.
Beyond relationships, Avril credits simple and consistent lifestyle habits. She maintains a healthy diet and pays attention to what she consumes. She also emphasises hydration, noting that drinking plenty of water is essential for both her health and appearance.
She says self-care is part of her routine, but not in an extreme or complicated way. Instead, she focuses on consistency, small, daily practices that support her overall wellness. She maintains that these habits work best when combined with a stable and peaceful mindset.
Avril also points to personal growth as a key factor in her journey. She says she invests time in understanding herself, making decisions that support her happiness, and setting clear boundaries. She avoids situations that compromise her peace or create unnecessary stress.
She says this shift in mindset has allowed her to feel more in control of her life. Rather than reacting to external pressures, she focuses on what she can manage. Her environment, her choices, and her emotional responses.
At 40, Avril says she feels strong, fresh, and grounded. She attributes this to living intentionally and staying aligned with what works for her. She says she no longer feels the need to conform to expectations that do not serve her.
