NAIROBI, Kenya — Police have launched investigations after two foreign nationals were attacked and robbed by three men riding a motorcycle along Oloitoktok Road near Siaya Park in Nairobi.
According to a police report filed at Kileleshwa Police Station, the incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday as the two men were walking from Yaya Centre.
The victims were identified as Mohamed Abdi, 48, a British national, and Aissam Allaoui, 42, a Dutch national.
Suspects Turned Back to Attack Victims
Police said the three suspects were riding a motorcycle whose registration number was not immediately established.
The motorcycle reportedly passed the two men before the riders turned back and confronted them.
Abdi was allegedly struck on the nose with a blunt object during the attack, sustaining injuries.
The attackers reportedly stole Sh15,000 in cash and a white power bank from him.
Allaoui was robbed of a black iPhone 14 Pro valued at Sh96,000, a pair of Nike trainers, Apple headphones and a white charging cable, according to the police report.
After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene on the motorcycle and remained at large.
Victims Taken to Hospital
The two victims were assisted by a good Samaritan and taken to Nairobi Women’s Hospital, where Abdi received treatment for the injuries he sustained during the attack.
The Kilimani police orderly officer, accompanied by Q10 personnel, visited the hospital and interviewed the victims as investigations got underway.
Police are now working to establish the identities of the suspects and trace the motorcycle used during the robbery.
Police Pursue Suspects
Investigators are also seeking to recover the stolen property as they piece together the circumstances surrounding the late-night attack.
The incident comes amid continued police efforts to address robbery and street crime in Nairobi, particularly in areas where pedestrians can be vulnerable during late-night hours.
Police have urged investigators to establish whether the suspects may have been involved in other similar incidents in the area.
The suspects’ whereabouts remained unknown as investigations continued.
