NAIROBI, Kenya — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested Embakasi East MCA Patrick Karani and two other suspects following the recovery of a Glock pistol and ammunition during an operation in Nairobi.
According to the DCI, the arrests were made on Monday after officers conducted a raid at the MCA’s office in the Roasters area along Thika Road.
During the operation, detectives recovered a Glock pistol together with a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The firearm and ammunition were seized and secured as exhibits as investigations continue.
Firearm Allegedly Held Without Licence
In a statement, the DCI said preliminary investigations indicated that the firearm was being possessed without a valid licence, an offence under Kenya’s firearms laws.
“Three suspects, including a Member of County Assembly (MCA), are now behind bars following a police operation at the Roasters area of Nairobi that led to the recovery of a Glock pistol,” the agency stated.
Investigators are now seeking to establish the ownership of the weapon, how it was acquired, and whether any additional offences may have been committed.
Suspects Remain in Custody
The three suspects remain in police custody pending completion of investigations and processing for arraignment in court.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the other two individuals arrested alongside the MCA.
The case is expected to proceed through the criminal justice system, where prosecutors will determine the appropriate charges based on the evidence gathered by investigators.
