Comedian and radio presenter MCA Tricky has announced his departure from Milele FM, bringing to an end a six-year stint at the Mediamax-owned radio station.

The entertainer, whose real name is Francis Munyao, shared the news in a heartfelt statement on his social media pages, describing the move as one of the most significant transitions in his career.

He also revealed that his exit followed unsuccessful discussions with management over his request for a short unpaid study leave to pursue his academic goals.

“Today I officially close one of the most important chapters of my life. After six unforgettable years, I have officially left Mediamax Network Ltd’s Milele FM, where I proudly served from June 2020 to June 2026. This wasn’t an easy decision,” MCA Tricky wrote.

The comedian reflected on his journey at Milele FM, saying radio had become much more than employment. Throughout his six years at the station, he built a loyal audience through his engaging on-air personality, humorous storytelling and conversations that resonated with listeners across the country.

“Radio has never been just a job to me—it has been a calling. Every show, every fun moment, every conversation, every early morning and evening link was remarkable, and every listener who tuned in became part of my journey. For that I will always be grateful,” he said.

MCA Tricky also paid tribute to the people who contributed to his success behind the scenes, thanking Mediamax Network Limited for the opportunity to serve millions of Kenyans through Milele FM.

He expressed appreciation to the station’s producers, technicians, co-presenters and colleagues, saying the relationships and experiences he built over the years would remain among the highlights of his career.

“I want to sincerely thank the management of Mediamax Network Limited for giving me the opportunity to serve millions of Kenyans through Milele FM. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to every producer, technician, co-presenter and colleague I had the privilege of working alongside. Together we created memories that I will carry with me forever,” he added.

While his farewell message was largely one of gratitude, MCA Tricky also addressed the circumstances that led to his departure.

According to the comedian, he had requested a short unpaid study leave to allow him to continue pursuing his academic ambitions. However, he and the station’s management were unable to reach a mutual agreement, ultimately leading to his exit.

“My departure comes after we were unable to reach a mutual agreement regarding my request for a short unpaid study leave as I continue pursuing my academic goals. While our paths have now diverged, I leave with appreciation for the experiences, lessons and friendships built over the past six years,” he explained.

MCA Tricky rose to national prominence through comedy before successfully transitioning into radio, where he became one of Milele FM’s familiar voices. His ability to blend humour with relatable conversations earned him a dedicated following, while his career has continued to span stand-up comedy, television appearances, event hosting and digital content creation.

Despite leaving Milele FM, MCA Tricky made it clear that he has no plans to step away from the entertainment industry.

“As one chapter ends, another begins. I am excited about what lies ahead. I remain committed to entertaining, inspiring, creating and serving you in even greater ways. This goodbye is not the end of my story—it is the beginning of a new chapter,” he wrote.
