YouTube superstar MrBeast has officially rewritten internet history after becoming the first content creator in the world to hit 500 million subscribers on the platform, a milestone no creator has ever achieved before.
The 28-year-old creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, crossed the record-breaking number during an emotional livestream watched by more than 600,000 viewers in real time, marking yet another massive moment in the evolution of digital entertainment.
With the achievement, MrBeast now commands an audience so large that it surpasses the combined population of countries like the United States, Canada, and Australia, further proving how internet creators have grown into global entertainment powerhouses capable of rivaling traditional media giants.
To celebrate the unprecedented milestone, YouTube created a brand-new creator award exclusively for MrBeast, since the platform’s official creator awards traditionally stop at the Red Diamond Play Button, which is awarded after crossing 100 million subscribers.
In a special presentation, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan personally handed Jimmy a one-of-a-kind custom 500 Million Subscriber Play Button, instantly turning it into one of the rarest awards in digital history.

Unlike previous YouTube awards, the trophy was designed specifically around the MrBeast brand. The custom-built award features a sleek silver base combined with vibrant blue and purple crystal details, all wrapped around his signature 3D Beast Panther logo, making it unlike anything YouTube has ever produced before.
The historic reveal happened at the end of MrBeast’s massive blockbuster production titled “50 YouTube Legends Fight for $1,000,000,” one of the creator’s biggest crossover productions featuring some of the platform’s biggest personalities.
After receiving the award, Jimmy took the historic trophy back to a carefully recreated version of his childhood bedroom — the same type of small room where his YouTube journey began back in 2012 when he uploaded gaming videos with almost no audience.
The symbolic moment served as a reminder of just how far he has come in just over a decade. From recording simple videos as a teenager with zero subscribers, Jimmy has now built one of the biggest entertainment empires on the internet.
Reflecting on the achievement during the livestream, MrBeast appeared visibly emotional as he addressed fans who helped him reach the milestone.
“I shouldn’t have half a billion subscribers… Statistically, I shouldn’t. I didn’t grow up with much,” he told viewers during the stream.
During the livestream, he revealed that he still sees himself creating content for the next 20 to 30 years, adding that he remains obsessed with improving the quality of his productions and pushing his videos toward full movie-level cinematography.
