NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenyan TikTok personality Patrick Mbacio, popularly known online as The Patrick The Truth, has died.
Mbacio’s body was discovered at his home after neighbours became concerned when they had not seen him for much of the day.
According to neighbours, Mbacio had last been seen attending a live event a day before he was found dead.
When he failed to appear the following day, the neighbours raised the alarm and entered his house, where they found his body.
The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately clear.
Mbacio Spoke About Health Struggles
Mbacio’s death comes days after he publicly discussed his health challenges and appealed to followers, friends and acquaintances for financial assistance.
In a video that circulated on social media, the TikTok personality addressed rumours about his health, including claims that he was living with HIV/AIDS.
Mbacio rejected the rumours and questioned why some people had changed how they treated him after his hospitalisation.
“People said I had AIDS, but you must have sexual intercourse to contract the disease,” he said.
He also complained that some people had stopped helping with household chores, including washing his clothes, because of the rumours.
“Now AIDS and washing clothes, how are those connected? I call them to wash my clothes and pay them Sh400, but they do not want to come because they heard I had AIDS,” he said.
Appealed for Help After Hospitalisation
Mbacio said he had noticed a significant change in how people treated him after he was admitted to hospital and later discharged.
He said some women who had previously helped him with household chores no longer wanted to come near him.
“When I had not gone to hospital, they were asking me whether I had clothes that needed to be washed, or house chores,” he said.
“But when I was admitted to hospital and later discharged very thin, none of these women agreed to wash my clothes or even get near me.”
He also spoke about problems he associated with blood sugar and blood pressure, urging people not to avoid him because of his health challenges.
“Sugar levels, blood pressure and diabetes should not scare one from coming near me,” he said.
Emotional Appeal to Followers
In early September, Mbacio made an emotional appeal to women who had previously interacted with him, asking them to support him as he struggled with his health and basic needs.
In one of his videos, he appealed to women whom he said had benefited from his generosity to come to his aid during what he described as a difficult period.
His appeals attracted attention online, with followers discussing his deteriorating appearance and the challenges he said he was experiencing.
Mbacio Built Large TikTok Following
Mbacio built a sizeable following on TikTok through videos centred largely on relationships, dating and his interactions with women.
His distinctive content attracted a large online audience, while also generating criticism and debate among social media users.
He became known for his outspoken personality and the candid manner in which he discussed his relationships and personal experiences.
His recent health-related videos gave followers a different view of the personality behind his online content.
