NAIROBI, Kenya— Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) parliamentary candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah on Tuesday night met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, where the two discussed the continuation of national government development projects in Ol Kalou Constituency following the recently concluded by-election.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Muchina said President Ruto assured him that all ongoing government projects in the constituency would continue despite the outcome of the July 16 parliamentary by-election.
“I am pleased to inform the residents of Ol Kalou that the President assured me that the following key projects will continue and be completed for the benefit of our people, and I will personally supervise their implementation,” Muchina said.
The projects include the completion of 36 electrification projects across the constituency, construction of houses for vulnerable families with two units in every ward, completion of five borehole projects, continuation of the university project, completion of JM Level 5 Hospital, construction of the constituency stadium, and completion of roads currently under tarmacking.
Muchina said the projects should not be viewed through a political lens, emphasizing that development should remain the priority for residents.
“These projects are not about politics; they are about the future of Ol Kalou. I will personally supervise their implementation,” he said.
He also thanked residents for their support during the by-election campaign, saying the election had ended but the constituency’s development agenda remained alive.
“The election is behind us, but our shared dream of a modern, developed and prosperous Ol Kalou is still alive,” he added.
Muchina contested the July 16 Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election on a UDA ticket but lost to Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru (Sammy Kamau Ngotho), who garnered 35,440 votes against Muchina’s 5,450.
The meeting comes amid continued political activity following the by-election, with both the government and opposition maintaining a strong focus on the politically significant Mt. Kenya region.
