ARUSHA, Tanzania – American R&B star Trey Songz has arrived in Tanzania for his maiden visit to the country, combining a major concert appearance with music collaborations, community initiatives and a taste of Tanzanian culture.
The singer, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, touched down at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam late Wednesday, August 12, 2026, ahead of his headline performance at the CRDB IMBEJU Sauti Moja Concert.
Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz welcomed Trey Songz at the airport as the American singer received a vibrant reception featuring traditional Tanzanian dances and cheering fans.
The singer was then escorted into the city in a luxury convoy as anticipation continued to build ahead of his first performance in Tanzania.
Trey Songz will headline the CRDB IMBEJU Sauti Moja Concert on Friday, August 14, at the Posta Kijitonyama Grounds, also known as TTCL Grounds, in Dar es Salaam.
The concert forms part of activities leading up to the seventh edition of the CRDB Bank International Marathon.
Trey Songz will share the stage with several African acts, including Tanzanian singer Mbosso, Nigerian star BNXN, Tanzanian rapper G Nako and South African DJ and producer Kabza De Small.
The event also marks a significant milestone in Trey Songz’s career as he celebrates 20 years in the global music industry.
Organisers have structured access to the concert around specialised table packages rather than conventional individual gate tickets.
Beyond the concert, Trey Songz has used his first visit to Tanzania to reconnect with Diamond Platnumz and explore a potential musical collaboration.
Diamond personally welcomed the American singer after his arrival, further strengthening the relationship between two artists who have previously crossed paths outside Tanzania.
The pair have also spent time together in the studio, where they are reportedly working on new music. The collaboration could feature American rapper Fabolous and form part of Diamond’s upcoming album.
