The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Stephen Oronje, was traveling in a Nissan matatu when officers intercepted him.

Police say the matatu was stopped for a routine check before officers searched passengers’ belongings.
During the search, officers discovered a suspicious black bag belonging to the suspect.
Inside, they found cannabis sativa wrapped in yellow cellotape, along with eight packs of Rizla rolling papers and a digital weighing scale.
Authorities believe the items point to an organised distribution operation.

According to police, Oronje claimed the cannabis had been sourced from Bungoma County.
Investigators say the consignment was intended for distribution in Kitui Town.
