KAJIADO, Kenya – President William Ruto has said that foreign actors are attempting to undermine his government, just days after he conceded to demands to drop the controversial Finance Bill 2024 following widespread protests.
Speaking at a power sub-station commissioning in Kajiado, President Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to democracy and peaceful governance.
He addressed the recent unrest, which culminated in the June 25 storming of Parliament that resulted in dozens of fatalities.
“Those trying to orchestrate disruptions from abroad must remember that Kenya is a democratic nation,” Ruto declared.
Ruto appealed to the youth to resist actions that could destabilize the country, emphasizing the importance of allowing the government to fulfill its mandate.
He reminded Kenyans of the upcoming 2027 General Election, stating, “We must understand that we have an exam in 2027 where people will choose their leaders based on their track record. There is no need to cause disturbances now. Let us not allow anarchy in our country.”
