NAIROBI, Kenya – Police in Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County, Murang’a County, have arrested a suspect linked to Del Monte farm theft and recovered 103 stolen pineapples during a coordinated patrol operation.
In a statement by the National Police Service(NPS), officers drawn from the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU), working alongside private security personnel, intercepted the suspect within Field 12 at Del Monte Farm.
Authorities confirmed that “a suspect has been arrested and stolen produce recovered in Murang’a County” following the operation, which led to the seizure of freshly harvested pineapples believed to have been taken from the farm.
The recovered items, totaling 103 pineapples, were found in the suspect’s possession at the time of arrest.
Security teams say the interception was part of routine patrols aimed at curbing theft and protecting large-scale agricultural investments in the area.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
Authorities have intensified patrols in the region amid rising concerns over theft of farm produce, which has been affecting commercial farming operations.
