NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Women and Children Wellness Centre has received specialised beds from the Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI) to support women and children seeking medical care and emergency shelter.
The donation is intended to increase the Nairobi facility’s bed capacity and improve comfort for vulnerable patients and families, according to a statement from the chamber.
KCCCI Chairman Tim Chen led the handover, which brought together representatives of the Chinese business community, local administrators and centre staff.
The statement did not specify the number of beds donated or their value.
Support for women and children
Representatives of the centre said the beds would improve the care provided to mothers and children in distress.
The facility provides medical care and emergency shelter to vulnerable women and children, according to the statement.
Speaking during the presentation, Chen said cooperation between the business community and local organisations should extend to social needs.
“True partnership goes beyond economic trade; it is rooted in compassion and mutual support,” he said.
“By supporting the Kenya Women and Children Wellness Centre, we are investing in the health, dignity, and future of Kenyan families.”
The chamber said the donation formed part of its corporate social responsibility programme, which also includes support for schools, disaster relief and youth empowerment initiatives.
It said it would continue working with local organisations to address community needs and strengthen ties between the Chinese business community and Kenyans.
