NAIROBI, Kenya- Limuru Tea PLC has appointed Leila Chebet as its company secretary, effective October 8, 2026, following the resignation of Janet Akoth Ocholla.
The company’s board announced the appointment in a notice issued under the Capital Markets (Public Offers, Listings and Disclosures) Regulations, 2023.
The board congratulated Chebet and welcomed her to the company.
Chebet is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a certified secretary.
Limuru Tea said she has experience in corporate governance, company secretarial practice, legal advisory, regulatory compliance and board processes.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Kabarak University and a postgraduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law.
She is a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya, the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Directors Kenya.
In addition to her legal and company secretarial work, Chebet is a governance auditor and legal auditor.
She is also a trainer of trainers and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.
The board also acknowledged Ocholla’s resignation.
She had served as Limuru Tea’s company secretary from April 2026 until September 24, 2026.
The company thanked her for her service and wished her success in her future endeavours.
The appointment marks a change in the company secretary’s office less than six months after Ocholla took up the role.
Limuru Tea did not give a reason for her resignation or provide further details about the transition.
Company secretaries support boards in meeting legal and regulatory obligations, maintaining corporate records and managing governance processes.
Limuru Tea’s announcement said Chebet’s work has included company secretarial practice, regulatory compliance and board processes.
The company is based in Limuru, Kiambu County.
It says it owns 282 hectares of tea plantations near Limuru town and grows green leaf tea for processing and export.
Limuru Tea’s notice was issued by order of the board.
It was signed by board chair Dorcas Muli and stated that the announcement had been made with the approval of the Capital Markets Authority.
The company did not announce any other board changes alongside Chebet’s appointment.
Its notice focused on her qualifications and professional experience, as well as Ocholla’s departure from the company secretary position.
