LAMU, Kenya- Rainfall is expected in parts of Lamu during the week ending October 5, as the county hosts government delegations and investors for the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed Dangote East Africa Refinery.
The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority’s forecast for September 29 to October 5 places Lamu among 33 counties expected to receive rain during the period.
The outlook coincides with Wednesday’s refinery ceremony, which President William Ruto and Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote are expected to lead.
However, the weekly forecast does not specify whether rain will fall at the ceremony venue or during the event.
Rain expected across the Coast
Beyond Lamu, rainfall is also forecast in parts of Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Tana River and Taita Taveta counties.

In western Kenya and the Rift Valley, the forecast covers parts of Kisumu, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nakuru, Bomet, Kericho, Kisii and Nyamira.
Further north and northeast, rainfall is expected in parts of Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa and Wajir.
The outlook runs until Monday, October 5, covering both the Lamu refinery groundbreaking and the days following the event.
