NAIROBI, Kenya – Content creator Pritty Vishy has made a dramatic U-turn on her decision to quit DJing, dropping a new Afrobeats x Dancehall mix just days after announcing that she was walking away from the profession.
Vishy released the new mix on her YouTube channel after initially saying she would sell her DJ controller and abandon her attempt to establish herself behind the decks.
The 24-year-old content creator also delivered a defiant message to her critics, making it clear that she intends to continue learning and improving despite the backlash that followed her debut performance.
“Giving up keh ‼️😂😂 zoea DJ wako BY FOOOORCE 😒😂😂😂 Till we get it RIGHT 💯,” she wrote.
The statement marked a sharp change from the emotional message she shared earlier in August when she announced that she had decided to quit.
On August 7, 2026, Vishy announced that she was quitting DJing and said she intended to sell her DJ controller. Her decision followed intense criticism over her first performances and the reception she received after publicly announcing her move into DJing.
Vishy said she had not expected the level of hostility she encountered, particularly from male DJs.
“Recently I came out as a DJ, and I never expected that reception. I never expected male DJs to be on my neck,” she said.
The content creator also questioned why people expected her to perform at a professional level immediately after starting. She pointed out that she was still a beginner and needed time to learn the technical aspects of DJing.
“Just imagine a 24-year-old against 90 per cent of DJs in Kenya,” she said while explaining the pressure she faced.
Vishy’s decision to quit came after a difficult debut experience that left her emotionally overwhelmed.
Her first DJ set was affected by technical and equipment problems, according to her accounts. The difficulties contributed to a performance that attracted criticism online.
