NAIROBI, Kenya- Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to postpone his appearance over remarks allegedly made ahead of the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay.
In a letter dated August 18, 2026, Kaluma acknowledged receiving the NCIC summons requiring him to appear before the commission on Wednesday, August 19.
However, the MP said he would be unavailable because of what he described as “unavoidable State duties.” He asked the commission to reschedule his appearance to a date after August 27, 2026.
Kaluma also challenged the evidence being relied upon by the commission, arguing that the transcription and translation of the utterances attributed to him were erroneous.
“Do note that both the transcription and the translation of the utterances attributed to me are erroneous. Kindly provide the correct transcription and translation and revert herewith for my response,” Kaluma said.
The NCIC had summoned Kaluma to appear at its offices at Britam Towers, Upper Hill, Nairobi, at 10am on Wednesday to assist with investigations into remarks allegedly made in Homa Bay on August 15.
The commission warned that failure to honour the summons could lead to a warrant of arrest and possible criminal or contempt proceedings.
The summons comes amid heightened scrutiny following the violence that disrupted the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay on August 16.
Kaluma’s latest response therefore does not simply say he is refusing to appear; he is asking NCIC to reschedule the summons while disputing the accuracy of the remarks attributed to him.
