Arsenal defender Ben White has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a significant medial knee ligament injury, dealing a huge blow to Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of crucial fixtures.

Arsenal confirmed on Tuesday that the defender sustained the injury during the Gunners’ 1-0 Premier League victory over West Ham United.

The club said White will now undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team, with hopes of recovering in time for pre-season preparations.

The injury means the England international will miss Arsenal’s remaining Premier League matches as well as the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain later this month.

White was forced off during the first half against West Ham after appearing to hurt his knee in a challenge.

Reports indicate the 28-year-old later left the stadium wearing a knee brace, sparking fears over the severity of the injury.

The setback also places serious doubt over White’s participation in England’s upcoming FIFA World Cup campaign.

The defender had only recently returned to the national team setup under manager Thomas Tuchel after a lengthy absence from international football.

Arsenal are already grappling with defensive injuries, with concerns also lingering over the fitness of Jurriën Timber, leaving Arteta short of options at right-back during the decisive stage of the season.
