HOUSTON, USA- Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has added another remarkable chapter to his legendary career after becoming the first player in football history to score in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The 41-year-old forward achieved the feat during Portugal’s Group K clash against Uzbekistan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, breaking a record no player had previously managed in the history of the competition.
Ronaldo found the net early in the match, extending a unique scoring streak that now spans six World Cups: Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, Russia 2018, Qatar 2022 and the ongoing 2026 tournament in North America.
The Portuguese star had already made history in 2022 when he became the first player to score in five different World Cups.
His latest goal moved the record even further out of reach and reinforced his reputation as one of the most durable and consistent players in football history.
Ronaldo’s achievement is particularly significant given the longevity required to compete at the highest level across two decades. He made his World Cup debut in 2006 and has now scored in every edition of the tournament in which he has participated.
The goal also took Ronaldo closer to the top of Portugal’s all-time World Cup scoring charts.
Reports indicate that he matched and later surpassed the tally set by Portuguese legend Eusébio, becoming his country’s leading scorer in World Cup history.
Before the tournament, Ronaldo was already tied with Lionel Messi as one of the few players to appear in six World Cups. However, the Portuguese forward now stands alone as the only player to have scored in six separate editions of the competition.
The milestone adds to a career filled with records, including the most goals in men’s international football and the most international appearances.
It also strengthens Ronaldo’s claim as one of the greatest footballers of all time.
