NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has called on the National Police Service (NPS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to account for the whereabouts of three men whom their families say were abducted and remain missing.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Odhiambo said she had met the families of Macmillan Kiarie, Micheal Osura and Evans Omondi, who they allege were taken by individuals believed to be police officers and have since been held incommunicado.
According to Odhiambo, the families have reported the disappearances to the police and made repeated follow-ups but have not received information on the whereabouts of their relatives.
She said the families remain distressed as they continue searching for the three men.
Odhiambo urged the National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to locate the missing men and facilitate their return to their families.
She also announced plans to file a habeas corpus application in court seeking orders compelling the production and immediate release of the three men if they are being held in custody.
A habeas corpus application is a legal procedure through which a court can require authorities to produce a person alleged to be unlawfully detained and justify the basis of their detention.
