NAIROBI, Kenya — The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) have renewed their commitment to deepen collaboration in promoting integrity, accountability, transparency and good governance across Kenya’s public sector.

The renewed partnership was reaffirmed during a high-level consultative meeting between EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud and a delegation from the Commission on Administrative Justice led by Vice Chairperson Dorothy Jemator.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two constitutional commissions in addressing governance challenges and improving public service delivery.

Joint Efforts on Governance

According to EACC, the discussions provided an opportunity for the two institutions to review areas of mutual interest and identify practical measures for enhanced collaboration.

The commissions agreed to strengthen partnerships in public education and awareness, complaints handling, investigations, institutional capacity building, information sharing and the implementation of joint governance initiatives.

The two agencies noted that their constitutional mandates complement each other and that closer coordination would enhance oversight of public institutions.

Promoting Integrity and Accountability

EACC and CAJ said they would continue working together to promote ethical leadership, safeguard citizens’ rights and strengthen transparency and accountability within public institutions.

The commissions also committed to sustaining regular engagements and establishing stronger coordination mechanisms to maximise the impact of their oversight functions.

According to the two institutions, enhanced collaboration will help improve public administration while fostering responsive, citizen-centred service delivery.

Building Public Confidence

The meeting underscored the importance of strategic partnerships among constitutional oversight bodies in strengthening governance systems and enhancing accountability.

EACC said coordinated action between oversight institutions is essential in safeguarding public resources, promoting ethical conduct and building a culture of integrity across the public sector.

The commission added that the renewed partnership is expected to strengthen public confidence in government institutions while supporting efficient, transparent and accountable service delivery.

Constitutional Mandates

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is mandated to combat corruption and economic crimes, enforce leadership and integrity standards, and promote ethical conduct in public service.

The Commission on Administrative Justice, commonly known as the Office of the Ombudsman, is mandated to address maladministration in public institutions, protect citizens against administrative injustice and promote fair, efficient and accountable public administration.
