NAKURU, Kenya- KANU leader Gideon Moi has urged politicians to reject dishonesty, hypocrisy and personal attacks, calling on them to honour their commitments and work towards a united and prosperous Kenya.
Moi made the remarks on Friday while addressing delegates from across the Rift Valley Region at Kabarak in Nakuru County.
He said leaders had a responsibility to act sincerely and deliver on promises made to the public.
“We must reject the politics of dishonesty, hypocrisy, and malicious attacks on people’s names and character,” Moi said in a statement after the meeting.
He called on leaders to rise above divisive politics and pursue a shared national vision.
Remarks amid political scrutiny
The meeting comes as attention has focused on Moi’s political relationship with President William Ruto and KANU’s position ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Recent reports have linked the discussions at Kabarak to the party’s future direction in the Rift Valley.
Moi has also faced questions over his decision to withdraw from the Baringo Senate by-election in 2025.
The Senator used the meeting to ask Baringo residents for forgiveness, saying he had trusted assurances from Ruto about development projects.
Moi’s remarks at Kabarak did not refer directly to the by-election or identify the people he accused of making malicious attacks.
He instead urged leaders to honour their commitments and cooperate in the interests of the country.
His appeal for unity comes as political parties and leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting brought together delegates from across the Rift Valley, although details of the discussions were not provided in his statement.
