NAIROBI, Kenya – A presidential ticket comprising Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is the most preferred combination within Kenya’s United Opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to a new Infotrak survey.
The poll placed the Kalonzo-Sifuna ticket at the top with 23 per cent support, making it the most popular among several proposed opposition pairings involving leading political figures.
Trailing the duo was a ticket featuring Kalonzo as presidential candidate and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as running mate, which attracted 16 per cent support.
A reverse arrangement with Matiang’i as the presidential candidate and Kalonzo as deputy followed closely with 15 per cent backing.
The survey found the least popular of the leading combinations to be a Fred Matiang’i-Rigathi Gachagua ticket, which garnered just 5 per cent support.
Beyond preferred running mate combinations, the poll also measured public opinion on who should carry the United Opposition’s presidential flag in the 2027 race.
Kalonzo narrowly led the contest with 27 per cent support, edging Matiang’i, who secured 26 per cent.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ranked third with 19 per cent support, while Democracy for Citizens (DCP) leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua came fourth with 9 per cent.
The findings offer an early snapshot of voter preferences within the opposition as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 General Election.
