“Atakuwa number four”: Jalang’o Predicts Sifuna’s Position In 2027 Race

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has predicted that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will finish fourth in the 2027 presidential race, questioning whether the senator has the organisation and strategy needed to mount a serious national campaign.

Jalang’o dismissed Sifuna’s presidential ambitions as lacking a clear plan, arguing that the senator missed an opportunity to demonstrate his political strength during the launch of his party.

“Atakuwa number four. Zero plan, zero anything,” Jalang’o declared during a media engagement in Nairobi on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The MP said Sifuna should have used the launch to showcase his national support through a well-organised gathering of delegates and a public rally, drawing on the approach used by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Jalang’o Faults Sifuna’s Party Launch

Jalang’o argued that the party launch offered Sifuna a chance to make a strong political statement but that the senator had failed to capitalise on the moment.

He said Sifuna should have organised a major gathering at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), bringing together thousands of delegates before addressing supporters outside the venue.

“The one day my brother Sifuna would have made a statement was during the launch of his party. You would have made sure that he does things the way Baba (Raila Odinga) used to teach us,” he said.

“Go to KICC, the boardroom, and call the 5,000 delegates seated there branded in your party. Outside at the stairs, you then have a rally and make a statement,” Jalang’o added.

He contrasted that approach with what he described as a poorly organised launch attended by relatively few people.

“So you go to some dingy room in a corner with 200 people and decide that you have launched a party, and then you haven’t said anything until now!” he said.

‘We Will Run Him Out Of This Town’

Jalang’o also issued a direct challenge to Sifuna, saying he and his political allies were prepared to confront the senator politically in Nairobi.

The Lang’ata MP suggested that Sifuna would face a difficult contest in the capital, where both leaders have political interests.

“We want to face him in this town. We will run him out of this town, and he knows it very well,” Jalang’o said.

His remarks intensified the political exchanges surrounding Sifuna’s ambitions and the direction of his political movement ahead of the next General Election.

Jalang’o Questions Sifuna’s Presidential Ambitions

The MP further questioned whether Sifuna understood the demands of a presidential campaign, saying his experience working alongside Raila during previous election campaigns had shown him the level of preparation required to compete nationally.

Jalang’o said he sympathised with Sifuna’s political position despite disagreeing with his approach.

“I cannot wish even for my worst enemy to be where my brother Sifuna is right now,” he said.

“I have seen what presidential campaigns are, and we were with him in the presidential campaign ya Baba. We know, and he knows that he is joking, by the way.”

He maintained that a presidential bid required more than public declarations, arguing that candidates needed strong political structures, organisation and a clear strategy to compete nationally.

Jalang’o concluded with a warning that the political contest was still ahead.

“So, be ready for the war. Time bado,” he said.

2027 Presidential Race Takes Shape

The exchange comes as political leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with potential presidential contenders, party affiliations and possible alliances drawing increasing attention.
