OL KALOU, Nyandarua- United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah has cast his ballot at Huruma Primary School Polling Station in Ol Kalou Constituency, expressing confidence in the electoral process and praising the high voter turnout witnessed since polling stations opened.

Muchina arrived at the polling station on Thursday morning and was received by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials before proceeding to vote in the closely watched parliamentary by-election.

His arrival came as hundreds of residents continued streaming into polling stations across the constituency, with many having queued from as early as 6 a.m. despite the chilly Nyandarua weather.

Long queues were reported at Huruma Primary School and other polling centres as voters turned out in large numbers to elect a new Member of Parliament.

Speaking after casting his vote, Muchina welcomed the impressive turnout, describing it as a demonstration of the electorate’s commitment to democracy.

“We are here to vote. We are here to exercise our democratic right. I am happy with the turnout. People have turned out in good numbers,” he said.

The UDA candidate also said he was prepared to accept the outcome of the election, while maintaining confidence that he would emerge victorious.

“I am ready for the outcome because I know I am winning. If I lose, it’s also okay. I will follow the law,” Muchina said.

He further commended the security arrangements put in place for the by-election, saying police officers had been adequately deployed across the constituency to maintain peace and order throughout the voting exercise.

The Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election was called following the death of former MP David Njuguna Kiaraho and has become one of Kenya’s most closely watched political contests. The race is widely seen as a key test of political influence in the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Voting is continuing across the constituency’s 144 polling stations, with more than 73,000 registered voters expected to elect their next Member of Parliament.
