KITALE, Kenya- Thousands of supporters turned out for the Linda Mwananchi movement’s rally in Kitale on Saturday, as opposition leaders intensified their nationwide mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The rally attracted large crowds who lined major roads and filled the venue, waving flags, chanting slogans and welcoming the opposition leaders as they continued their grassroots campaign under the Linda Mwananchi banner.
The delegation was led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and brought together several opposition figures who have been traversing the country in a series of political rallies aimed at popularising the movement’s agenda and rallying support against President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
Addressing the crowd, the leaders urged supporters to remain peaceful while calling for greater public participation in national affairs.
They reiterated the movement’s commitment to pursuing political change through constitutional and democratic means.
The Bungoma rally comes amid an aggressive expansion of the Linda Mwananchi campaign, which has staged public meetings in several counties over recent months as it seeks to build momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the movement, more rallies are planned across the country in the coming weeks.
The latest political tour also follows previous rallies that were disrupted by violence, with opposition leaders accusing state agencies and hired goons of attempting to frustrate their public meetings.
Despite the earlier incidents, the movement has vowed to continue its nationwide campaign.
On Sunday, the team shall host a major rally in Bungoma, which is Sifuna’s hometown.
