KIPKELION, Kenya – Two officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kipkelion Sub-County have been arrested over allegations of soliciting a Sh500,000 bribe to terminate a murder case.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) identified the suspects as Corporal Wesley Korir and Corporal Christopher Maina.
According to the commission, the officers allegedly demanded the money from a complainant in exchange for having the murder case against him terminated.
EACC said preliminary investigations prompted the commission to mount an operation that resulted in the arrest of the two officers while they were allegedly receiving Sh120,000.
The suspects were processed at the EACC South Rift Regional Office and later released on a cash bail of Sh30,000 each pending the completion of investigations.
The commission said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
EACC has reiterated its commitment to combating corruption across all sectors and urged members of the public to report cases of bribery and other corrupt conduct through its official reporting channels.
