Armed gang storms home after gaining entry
According to police, the incident happened on Sunday evening when four men drove into the compound.
The suspects were allowed in by a security guard who had been told they were guests.
Once inside, the attackers ordered 12 occupants to lie down while armed with crude weapons.
They then seized two safes containing about US$20,000, alongside Kenyan shillings, Chinese Yuan, Japanese Yen, mobile phones, gold jewellery, and passports.
Police probe possible inside link in planned robbery
Officers say the suspects appeared to have prior knowledge of the money in the house.
Investigators are now pursuing the possibility of an insider who may have tipped off the gang.
The guard on duty has been detained for questioning as part of ongoing investigations.
Police also confirmed that the gang escaped in a saloon car, and no arrests have been made so far.
One of the stolen phones was later recovered along Amboseli Road, just metres from the scene.
Rising trend of targeted robberies raises alarm
Authorities say the incident reflects a growing pattern of organised robberies, often involving surveillance of victims.
Police revealed that in some cases, suspects monitor banking halls and follow individuals after large cash transactions.
These attacks have been reported in both urban and rural areas, with detectives continuing to track down suspects.
The victims in the Lavington incident sustained minor injuries during the robbery.
