Kware Murder Suspect, 12 Others Escape from Gigiri Police Station: An Inside Job?

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – In a shocking turn of events, 13 suspects, including the Kware murder suspect, Collins Jumaisi, escaped from the highly guarded Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi.

The escape, which took place during the early hours of Tuesday, has sparked suspicions of an inside job, given the station’s tight security.

The daring ‘jailbreak’ occurred after the suspects reportedly cut through a wire mesh at the station’s basking bay, a seemingly unbreakable part of the security measures surrounding the cells.

The suspects, including Jumaisi and 12 Eritrean nationals, scaled the perimeter wall and vanished into the night, leaving authorities scrambling for answers.

Top police chiefs, led by acting Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin, rushed to the scene to assess the situation.

The fact that such a high-profile suspect, suspected of killing tens of women in Nairobi, could simply walk out of a well-guarded police station has raised serious questions about the security protocols and potential conspiracy within the authorities.

“This is an unfortunate incident, and we have launched an immediate and comprehensive investigation to determine how this happened,” a senior detective privy of the ongoing investigations told Y News.

“We are following all leads, and a fresh manhunt is underway to recapture the escaped suspects.”

The police have so far offered a general explanation, stating that the suspects cut through a wire mesh to make their way out of the cells.

However, it remains unclear how they managed to carry out such a daring escape without being detected.

Sources within the police force have suggested that the level of coordination required points to possible assistance from inside the station.

Gigiri Police Station, located in one of Nairobi’s most affluent neighborhoods, is known for its strict security measures.

The escape has sent shockwaves through the police service and the public alike, with many questioning how the suspects could outwit the officers stationed there.

According to a preliminary report from the station, the officers only realized the suspects were missing during the routine morning tea call.

By then, the suspects had already fled, leaving behind a trail of questions. One suspect, an Eriterian did not escape.

One senior officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed his disbelief.

“This is not an ordinary escape. It is almost impossible for such a large group to execute a breakout like this without help from within. The timing, the method—they all point to something bigger than a simple jailbreak,” the officer said.

The involvement of Jumaisi in the escape has heightened the stakes.

Jumaisi, a key suspect in the brutal murder of a several women in Kware, had been in custody awaiting trial.

His escape has renewed fears of him evading justice, and the public is now anxiously watching as police efforts intensify to bring him back behind bars.

The Eritreans who escaped with Jumaisi were reportedly being held in connection with immigration offenses.

Their inclusion in the group of escapees adds another layer of complexity to the case, as authorities now face the challenge of tracking down suspects who may attempt to flee the country.

Police Spokesperson Resila Onyango assured the public that all necessary resources are being mobilized to recapture the fugitives.

“We are leaving no stone unturned in this investigation,” she said.

“Those responsible for this escape will be brought to justice, whether they are inside or outside the police force.”
