NAIROBI, Kenya — The Akorino faith community is in mourning following the death of Archbishop Stanley Gichuru, a revered cleric remembered for his humility, leadership and deep spiritual influence.
Gichuru succumbed to cancer after a long illness, passing away on April 15, 2026, at Jumuia Hospital in Huruma bringing to a close a life many described as one of unwavering service to God and community.
Widely regarded as a “pillar of faith,” the Archbishop mentored a generation of clergy and played a central role in strengthening the Akorino church, earning admiration for both his leadership and personal devotion.
As news of his passing spread, tributes poured in from Kenyans reflecting the profound impact he had on those who knew him and those who followed his ministry.
“It’s a dark Thursday morning in our hearts.. It’s hard to say goodbye Arch Bishop Stanley Gichuru. May you rest in peace. We shall meet again in the Paradise,” Irene Rebecca wrote, capturing the grief felt by many.
Others remembered him not just as a spiritual leader, but as a close friend and guiding figure.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and the entire Akurinu Faith following the passing of His Eminence Archbishop Stanley Gichuru. He was my personal friend. I was able to take care of him while he was sick.
“He was a great pillar of faith, whose life and service to God impacted many. May the Lord grant you comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time. Rest in eternal glory, servant of God,” Timo N Kamau said.
For many, his death has left a deep emotional void.
“A dark Thursday morning, Rest In Peace Arch Bishop Stanley Gichuru. Though you are gone, your light continues to shine in our hearts.. You fought the battle, may the Angels of heaven receive you in heaven…. We were not ready to say goodbye, but rest rest rest our dad. Condolences to the family and friends.. Forever in our hearts,” Liz Mugure shared.
Messages of condolence also came from those in public service and beyond, highlighting the wide reach of his influence.
“Archbishop Stanley Gichuru of Akurinu Church has passed on. May his soul rest in peace. Statehouse staff have condoled with the family and friends,” Laan Njoroge stated.
Others struggled to find the words to express their grief.
“It’s unfortunately very hard very sad very heart broken to write these words. Rest in peace my arch Bishop,” Wokam mourned.
Even in death, Gichuru is remembered as a man whose faith left a lasting mark.
