Singer Arrow Bwoy has sparked fresh conversation about his relationship with Nadia Mukami after revealing that the award-winning singer was once his “side chick” before eventually becoming his main partner.
The remarks come just weeks after Mukami publicly announced that the couple had ended their romantic relationship, bringing to a close one of Kenya’s most celebrated celebrity unions.
Speaking during a recent interview, Arrow Bwoy clarified that his comments were tied to the inspiration behind his latest song, Side Chick, which explores the unpredictable nature of modern relationships.
Using his own love story as an example, the singer said relationships do not always begin conventionally.
“Mimi hata kufutana na Nadia, Nadia I think alikuwa side chick wangu. Actually, alikuwa,” he said.
He went on to explain that their relationship evolved over time until she became his committed partner.
“Nikakuja nikabadilisha… akawa main.”
Arrow Bwoy said his experience reflects a reality that many people may not openly discuss. According to the singer, it is not uncommon for relationships that begin quietly or outside traditional expectations to later develop into long-term commitments.
“Experiences za watu, sometimes unapata your current husband ni mtu ambaye mlikuwa maybe mko na mahusiano hapo kando, halafu ikashika, akawa sasa ndiyo main. Haujui maisha ya watu.”
He added that life and relationships often unfold in unexpected ways.
“Society inatuonyesha things tofauti. Things happen. Unaweza kuwa side chick ya mtu na baadaye ukawa wife, ama ukiwa wife.”
Arrow Bwoy said those experiences formed the inspiration behind Side Chick, stressing that the song reflects real-life relationship dynamics rather than targeting any individual.
The interview comes shortly after Nadia Mukami revealed that she and Arrow Bwoy had gone their separate ways after years together.
In her announcement, the singer explained that while their romantic relationship had ended, they remained committed to co-parenting their son and maintaining mutual respect.
