Missed Out? KUCCPS Opens Late Degree Applications

Date:

MIGORI, Kenya — The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened a late application window for degree programmes, giving eligible Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates from 2022 to 2025 another opportunity to secure university admission.

The exercise targets qualified candidates who missed out on placement during the regular application cycle, with successful applicants receiving instant placement into available degree programmes.

Speaking during a higher education funding sensitisation forum at Uriri High School in Migori County, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome said the late application process has been designed to provide immediate placement for eligible candidates.

“Form Four leavers applying for university placement during the current late degree application window are getting instant placement,” Dr. Wahome said.

Who Is Eligible?

According to KUCCPS, the late application window is open to candidates who:

  • Sat KCSE between 2022 and 2025.
  • Attained a minimum grade of C+ (plus).
  • Meet the subject requirements for their preferred degree programme.
  • Have not previously been placed into a degree programme by KUCCPS.

Who Cannot Apply?

Candidates who have already been placed into university degree programmes through KUCCPS are not eligible for the exercise.

However, KUCCPS clarified that applicants who were previously placed in:

  • Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs),
  • Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), or
  • Kenya School of Law (KSL)

may still apply for placement into degree programmes through the current window.

Online Applications Open

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the KUCCPS online student portal.

The placement service has encouraged applicants to apply as soon as possible to take advantage of the instant placement system and secure admission into available programmes.

The late application exercise offers another opportunity for qualified KCSE candidates who previously missed university placement to join institutions ahead of the upcoming academic intake.
