NAIROBI Kenya,May 23– Kenya Airways has announced the retirement of long-serving chairman Michael Joseph, marking the end of a significant chapter in the airline’s leadership.
The announcement comes ahead of the company’s 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for June 13.
Joseph, a key figure in the airline’s governance and strategic growth, will not be eligible for re-election, having reached the maximum tenure allowed under the Board Charter.
“Michael Joseph’s retirement marks the end of an era for Kenya Airways. His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on the airline’s journey,” said KQ in a statement.
Michael Joseph has served as Chairman of Kenya Airways since October 2016.
Joseph has been at helm of the airline for thr ladt 8 years.
During his leadership, Kenya Airways has undergone significant transformations, including a notable financial turnaround.
In 2024, the airline reported a pretax profit of Sh5.53 billion, its first profit since 2013, attributed largely to foreign-exchange gains and operational efficiencies.
Michael Joseph’s tenure has been characterized by strategic leadership aimed at revitalizing the airline’s performance and restoring stakeholder confidence.
