NAIROBI, Kenya – Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has hit back at media personality Oga Obinna with a Sh20 million legal demand, escalating a public feud that has now moved into competing defamation claims.
Mosiria, through his lawyers Sichangi & Otieno Advocates, issued the demand on September 28, 2026, accusing Obinna of publishing remarks about him on his YouTube show and social-media platforms that he says damaged his reputation and subjected him and his family to public ridicule.
The demand comes less than two weeks after lawyers representing Obinna issued Mosiria with a separate notice seeking Sh10 million over alleged defamatory statements.
According to the latest legal demand, Mosiria wants Obinna to remove the disputed material, issue a public retraction and apology and pay Sh20 million in damages. His lawyers have given Obinna seven days to comply, warning that they will pursue civil proceedings if he does not.
The development turns the dispute into a two-way legal confrontation, with each side accusing the other of making statements that caused reputational harm.
The latest demand reportedly centres on remarks made on Obinna TV and other social-media platforms.
Mosiria’s lawyers accuse the comedian and media personality of making comments that allegedly mocked his demeanour and included sexualised innuendo and remarks concerning his gender or sexual orientation. The legal complaint also extends to Mosiria’s family.
His lawyers claim the alleged remarks contributed to online ridicule and cyberbullying involving his wife, children and relatives.
Mosiria is seeking Sh20 million in compensation, alongside the removal of the disputed videos and other related material. The lawyers have also demanded a public retraction and apology.
The latest development follows a September 17 demand letter issued to Mosiria by Otieno Ogola & Company Advocates, acting for Obinna, whose legal name is Steve Thompson Magana.
The lawyers demanded Sh10 million over statements Mosiria allegedly published on TikTok and other social-media platforms. The lawyers accused Mosiria of making statements that allegedly damaged Obinna’s reputation, caused distress and embarrassed him publicly.
They demanded that Mosiria remove the disputed material, issue an unconditional retraction and publish an apology, including through national newspapers. The letter gave Mosiria seven days to comply.
After the deadline passed, Obinna indicated that he intended to proceed with the matter.
Before issuing his own legal demand, Mosiria publicly responded to Obinna’s Sh10 million claim.
In an interview with content creator Trudy Kitui, Mosiria said he had not seen the legal notice and questioned the identity of the person making the claim.
“Personally I’m hearing about that I’ve not seen anything about that,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria then claimed that the only Obinna he knew was a Nigerian friend.
“There’s Obinna from Nigeria who is my good friend and he has been battling depression. I took him to the rehab… he was a media personality from Nigeria… That’s the only person I know,” he said.
