Bishop Kathy Kiuna has opened up about one of the most emotional moments of her life after watching her son Jeremy walk across the graduation stage to receive his master’s degree in finance.
Speaking emotionally while reflecting on Jeremy’s achievement, Kathy revealed that she gave birth to him at only six months and doctors feared he would not survive.
“The whole of Jeremy was like this. Literally, the palm of my hand was the size of my son. And I gave birth to him at six months. And everything suggested that he was not going to make it,” she said.
For Kathy, those memories have remained vivid despite the years that have passed. She shared that Jeremy recently earned his third degree, adding another major accomplishment to his academic journey.
According to Kathy, his latest achievement came in finance at the master’s level.
“On Friday, my son got his third degree, and his third one was a master’s. He got his master’s in finance,” she said.
As Jeremy walked toward the stage and his name echoed through the graduation venue, Kathy said emotions overwhelmed her.
“When I saw him walking up there, everything in me was grateful. Grateful to God,” she said.
She explained that hearing the announcement of Jeremy’s name triggered memories of the difficult journey that began years earlier when his future seemed uncertain.
“It is another thanksgiving for me that he got out there, and I heard them say, Jeremy Kiuna,” she added.
Kathy explained that many people only know Jeremy as the son of a prominent church leader and public figure. Because they encounter him through his family’s public profile, they may not understand the personal story and struggle that shaped his life.
She said that while others may simply see “the bishop’s son,” she sees a miracle.
“So for some, when you see Jeremy, he is just the bishop’s son. But for me, that boy is a miracle.”
Jeremy Kiuna was born prematurely at six months and faced serious health challenges early in life. His mother, Kathy Kiuna has previously shared that he later lived with challenges related to cerebral palsy, affecting movement and mobility.
Despite those obstacles, Jeremy pursued his education successfully and has built a strong academic profile. He recently earned his third degree, including a master’s degree in finance, marking a major milestone in his journey.
