NAIROBI, Kenya — The Embassy of Kenya in Washington, D.C. has launched a three-day mobile consular outreach in Dallas, bringing key government services closer to Kenyans living in the region.
The initiative targets diaspora communities who often travel long distances to access consular services at the embassy headquarters in Washington, D.C. Officials say the outreach is part of a broader strategy to improve accessibility, efficiency, and engagement with Kenyans abroad.
Large numbers of Kenyans in Dallas and surrounding areas turned out early Tuesday to access services including passport applications, national ID processing, document certification, and other forms of consular assistance.
In a statement, the embassy said the outreach reflects its commitment to strengthening ties with the diaspora and ensuring the timely delivery of essential services.
“Supporting Kenyans abroad remains a core pillar of the Embassy’s mandate, in recognition of the diaspora’s vital contribution to national development through investment and enhanced people-to-people linkages,” the mission stated.
The diaspora remains a key economic pillar for Kenya, contributing significantly through remittances, investments, and knowledge transfer. Government policy frameworks have increasingly prioritised diaspora engagement as part of national development planning and foreign policy.
Officials added that mobile consular services are designed to bridge service gaps and bring the government closer to citizens, particularly in regions with high concentrations of Kenyans.
The embassy has pledged to expand similar initiatives to other cities across the United States, in line with efforts to empower the diaspora to participate more actively in Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
Kenyans in and around Dallas have been encouraged to take advantage of the outreach during the three-day window, with the embassy assuring continued focus on improving service delivery.
“Your interests remain our priority,” the statement added.
